Lymphatic Drainage Self Massage
-
STEP ONE - DEEP BREATHS & STIMULTAION OF THE NODES
Start your lymphatic massage routine by taking 3 deep breaths concentrating on contracting the diaphragm and filling the stomach (like in our appointment)
Next we stimulate the lymph nodes. Use your hands to gently pump/rub over the following areas in this exact order:
1. Collar Bone x 10
2. Neck x 10
3. Under Arms x 10
4. Abdomen x 10
5. Groin x 10
6. Behind the knees x 10
7. Around the ankles x 10
This will get your lymphatic system pumping.
-
STEP TWO - LIGHT STROKES
Use the palm of your hands or dry brush tool.
Gently sweep across the skin. Start down neck then down the arms up the torso and up the legs. The motions should be light and always in one direction only - towards the heart. As shown during your appointment. This will help to get the lymph moving.
-
STEP THREE - REBOUNDING
Standing on the spot gently come up on to your toes then back down on your heels to create like a light jumping movement. Do this for about 1-2 mins after the massage to contract the calf muscles. This will get the Lymphatic system pumping and optimised for the rest of the day.
